Invisible People
In 2015 I began to have strange symptoms, like a change in my migraines that left me without the headache but only blurred vision. Then I'd begun to feel like a little wind-up toy that ran out of juice after only a few steps. Gravity seemed to increase its pull on me out of no where, causing me to fall and feel crushed within its grip. I knew what was wrong with me almost immediately. But the doctors didn't want to believe it. They told me it must all be in my head. I asked for opinion after opinion until I finally got my diagnosis: Myasthenia gravis. I don't want anyone to go on for years seeking a diagnosis like I did. We can increase awareness of this rare disease. We can increase understanding, treatments, and we can decrease misinformation. All of this will improve patient lives.
Meet The Team:
Aimee Zehner
Lead Vocals
Aimee endured a 7 year battle of gaslighting, dismissals and misdiagnosis before her diagnostic odyssey ended in 2018 when she learned she had LRP4+ MG. Aimee has been a strong MG advocate for years, working with groups including the MDA, the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America, and the Myasthenia Gravis Holistic Society. She bravely fought through a bulbar attack (an MG exacerbation that effects the nose, throat and neck muscles) to lend her beautiful vocals to this song. Aimee champions her own passion projects in coaching, advocacy, motivational speaking and the arts. Visit www.everybodyempowered.com for more info. Follow her on Facebook and Instagram @everybodyempowered.
Mika Filborne
The Piano & Organ
Mika Filborne made this project literally global. He hales from Denmark and is part of the death/doom metal band Saturnus. So naturally when first asked to participate he felt far from home. "It wasn't my style," he said, "But I thought about those living with MG and the art, and I decided to do it." The MGFA has featured Mika's story which you can check out in this article. Mika can also be found in InstaGram @filbornemika
Daniä Quill
Jazz Guitar, Producer, Songwriter
You know Daniä, but this was her first project playing jazz guitar. It was also her first project working with a team as the producer, bringing all parts of the project together to blend under her vision into a single cohesive piece.
